Kampala Agricultural Farm (KAF) is the alias for the registered organization known as Kampala, Health, Agriculture & General Services (KHAGES-SL). Given the length of its official name, the organization adopted the shorter and more convenient KAF for ease of use. KAF is committed to uplifting the lives of orphans, farmers, vulnerable women, marginalized men, and deprived children by collaborating with other organizations and community groups. Its mission is rooted in promoting agricultural development as a means to tackle hunger and poverty while supporting those in need. A key objective of KAF is to empower farmers by providing essential resources such as seeds, seedlings, farm tools, food-for-work programs, infrastructure, and relevant training. These efforts enable farmers to increase food production, creating a ripple effect that addresses hunger and alleviates poverty within their communities.
To support farmers effectively, KAF relies on diverse income sources that ensure its sustainability. These include the salaries and wages of the Chief Executive Farmer, Dr. Mohamed Y. Bangura, alongside donations and pledges from friends, relatives, and public contributors. Financial and material support from international and local NGOs, as well as assistance from philanthropic individuals and organizations, play a critical role in sustaining KAF’s initiatives.
The farm produces various essentials, including seeds, seedlings, and fresh produce, which contribute to improving food security. By providing resources to farmers and communities, it ensures sustainable agricultural practices and helps combat hunger, fostering resilience against food scarcity challenges.
Women in rural communities, supported by the farm, sell fresh vegetables at local markets, leveraging their small-scale farms to earn daily income. This initiative empowers them, supports their families, and fosters financial independence
The farm is seeking funding to construct a modern processing and packing unit, enabling the proper management, packaging, and storage of agricultural products, ensuring quality preservation, reducing post-harvest losses, and increasing marketability, ultimately empowering farmers and enhancing food security in the community
